Improving Our Reading Skills

Welcome to week 12's blog

This week we were busy preparing for our assembly and we hope that you enjoyed the children's thoughts on how they have overcome an adversity in their life. The videos were sent out via the line group this week.

Maths
This week we have been discovering what fractions are, and how we can write them as numbers. We have learned about halves, quarters and thirds. We learned about the words "denominator" and "numerator" fractions are also useful when we are talking bout telling the time and that is what we will be investigating next week.

Library
miss Marie really enjoys when we visit the library. We love going there to hear her stories and choosing new books to take home. there is always an interesting activity to complete.

English
We are trying to expand our writing skills by including adjectives and adverbs in our sentences. In class each week we also read to
Mr. John and show what we have been doing to improve our skills at home. parents, please please please encourage your children to read every day. If you get the chance, read to your children before they go to sleep at night. They will love it and look forward to it each night!

Reading Eggs
While the class works independently with the "Reading Eggs" app, every learner has a chance to read to Mr. John. If they are showing confidence and improved reading knowledge they can have their book changed and possibly move up a level.
So get reading at home girls and boys!!!

Natasha Singapore
This week our second anthem was that of Singapore. Our class member, Natasha is from Singapore, so she was able to proudly stand in front of her flag as the Singapore national anthem was played.

Congratulations
These students have all been working hard to improve their reading and maths skills.

Science Day
This week we will celebrate science by having a whole day dedicated to science activities in each class. The teachers in each class will have resources and different experiments for the children to interact with. We are looking forward to a fun day.
