Swimming and Football This week
PE/ Swimming
We had a special event this week for our swimming class. A swimming Teacher from the Nong Bua football club came to work with us. It was a lot of fun.
Handwriting
The children were practicing how to join the letter “a” to the letter
“b” today and then how we join “ab” to other words. Next we will
practice how a, c and k join together.
Library
This is a great time to unwind and sit down with a book. The
learners always like being in the library. A reminder that this week
we must return our books and that we cannot check out any books
next week.
Assembly
This week Year 1 reminded us all about what we can do to be
internationally minded learners. Our class focused on being
caring human beings and shared our thoughts and pictures about
what that meant to us. We then presented our work to the school.
English
We were reminding ourselves how to edit our work after we have
completed writing a story. We focused on where and when we
should use full stops and capital letters. Others in the group were
given the opportunity to write their own report, focusing on makin
g sure that the work they wrote was written in the past tense. Next
week we will investigate what we must include to create an
informational poster.
UOI
We have been finding out how organization operate. We learned
about how a government is formed. We then decided to have a
vote for a class president. The children created campaign posters
and gave speeches as to why they should be class president and
what they would do for year 2/3. After we heard everyone’s
promises, the children had a private vote as to whom should be
their president. It was a great learning experience.
Maths
We were learning how to measure distances and shapes. Following
this we researched what perimeter is. Then we were able to
discover the perimeter of shapes and spaces at our school. Next
week we will be measuring again, however this time we will be
measuring weight.
We also took part in a worldwide math extravaganza and competed
with other learners all over the world. It was a fun time in our
maths class to be a risk taker and join in this activity. There will be
certificates awarded at a later date for this activity.
FYI
Student Led Conferences
We have been preparing for this very important
day. The learners will guide you through their
portfolio of work and explain to you some of the
things they have been learning about so far this
year. We look forward to seeing you next week.
