ABOUT THE 
END OF YEAR SHOWCASE


English and Math Test
This week the learners completed some external tests. These tests are designed to help the school improve the quality of education at UDIS. They are also to help guide the teacher's planning for the students for the following year. The tests are used to plot the children's progress throughout their time at UDIS
When the children receive their end of year report their will be a summary page about these external tests included with the report.













English Comprehension
The children are learning that when writing answers to comprehension questions, the answer must be written in a complete sentence. We will continue with learning this idea next week.





UOI
We are learning about natural environments. We will be creating a diorama very soon about a chosen environment.
We have also started to research what a bird house would look like and are designing our own bird home. We will use recycled materials to build our creation.





Library
This week Miss Marie challenged the learners to find the author of the book they were reading. 







 Writing
The children are rewriting the story of  "Little Red Riding Hood" in their own words. We will use this writing to investigate how to use adverbs and adjectives next week.








Maths
In maths we were practicing how to add and subtract with "tens numbers." 
We also were revising how to use the "greater than" and "less than" symbols. 
We started to revise how we tell the time and will continue with this work into next week.


PLEASE CAN YOU SEND IN ANY OLD PLASIC BOTTLES AND OTHER RECYCLABLE OBJECTS TO HELP THE CHILDREN BUILD THEIR BIRD HOUSES NEXT WEEK

Welcome To Week Four Hello to you all. We are now back on track and everyone is enjoying being with their friends and learning with them,  back at school.  Congratulations These people have all been busy using our "Study Ladder" app.  At various points along their learning journey, in "Study Ladder," the children are awarded certificates to highlight their progress.  Well done to you all!!! FEBRUARY We came outside to observe our calendar and discuss the unusualness of the month of February. We noted the spelling of the word and I pointed out the silent "r" that many adults forget about! We then had a guess at how many days there were in February and the discussed the reason that there are 29 days every four years in this month.  The learners thought that it was very strange that we could just add another day on to a month. Improving Our Reading Skills

Welcome to week 12's blog This week we were busy preparing for our assembly and we hope that you enjoyed the children's thoughts on how they have overcome an adversity in their life. The videos were sent out via the line group this week. Maths This week we have been discovering what fractions are, and how we can write them as numbers. We have learned about halves, quarters and thirds. We learned about the words "denominator" and "numerator" fractions are also useful when we are talking bout telling the time and that is what we will be investigating next week. Library miss Marie really enjoys when we visit the library. We love going there to hear her stories and choosing new books to take home. there is always an interesting activity to complete. English We are trying to expand our writing skills by including adjectives and adverbs in our sentences. Yahoo... we are back at school!

Congratulations Well done to the students who have worked on "Study Ladder" during our qurentine period. these activities are extra learning fun to emphasie the learning that we do in class. This week we were learning about right angles and the different ways that we can reposition shapes. Next week we will be focusing on learning our three time table and properties of three dimensional shapes, as we hope to add the knowledge of angles we learnt this week. English Writing  Our writing has two focuses at the moment. We are trying to improve our grammar and editing skills as well as write interesting stories. This week we started a story online and completed it at school. We asked the children to write about their feelings about learning online. They were able to say why they liked or disliked this situation. Next week we will continue to focus our attention on increasing the amount of words that we write in a story and try to edit the story as best as we can.   Maths ...
